New Sherwin-Williams Store Planned for Northeast Wichita

More development is happening in one of the hottest areas of the city.

Sherwin-Williams (NYSE: SHW), a national paint retailer, plans to build a new location at 2775 N. Greenwich Road — just northwest of Greenwich Place and southwest of Topgolf.

Construction is expected to start in the next few weeks, according to Dave Miller, head of acquisitions at Denver-based Wall Development Group. Wall Development recently purchased the parcel and previously worked with Sherwin-Williams on its Maple and 135th Street location in west Wichita.

Greenwich Retail Development LLC is developing the project and Landmark Commercial Real Estate CEO and owner Brad Saville handled the transaction.

“We are excited to see Sherwin-Williams come to this trade area, and it will do well with the rapidly expanding residential growth in northeast Wichita,” Saville said in an email.

A new commercial building permit for the project — with a valuation of $1,032,410 — was issued on July 12, according to city-county records.

Miller said the goal is to have the 4,500 square-foot building done by the end of the year.

The Greenwich Road store will join multiple nearby Sherwin-Williams locations: a store about three miles south-southwest at 832 N. Webb Road and the 3839 N. Woodlawn Blvd. location around four miles away in Bel Aire.

The Cleveland-based company did not respond by early Thursday afternoon as to whether Sherwin-Williams is eyeing further Wichita growth or whether the new location could potentially replace a current one.

Sherwin-Williams has more than 5,000 stores across the U.S. and internationally. According to its website, the company’s Wichita footprint includes five paint stores, a commercial paint and spray equipment maintenance location at 1705 N. Wabash Ave., a product finishes facility at 1711 N. Wabash Ave. and a commercial floorcovering store at 720 N. Colorado Court.

In addition to the Bel Aire store, it also has area locations in Andover, Derby, El Dorado and Newton.
