New Furniture Store to Move Into Former Lululemon Space at the Waterfront

A new furniture store is coming to the Waterfront at 13th and Webb Road, and it’s all about comfort.

LoveSac, a Connecticut-based chain, is taking the former Lululemon space next to Whole Foods Market at the northwest corner of the intersection.

The brand is known for what it calls Sactionals. That’s the company’s name for its modular seats that can be combined in a variety of ways.

According to the LoveSac website, founder Shawn Nelson built his first seat — an 8-foot sort of sac that was similar to a bean bag — in the basement of his parents’ Utah home in 1995. Today, LoveSac still sells that type of seating along with Sactionals, which look similar to traditional sectional furniture.

The company has had a number of slogans through the years, such as “The Alternative to Lame Furniture” around 1998 and, more recently, “The World’s Most Adaptable Couch.” The company also touts what it calls hardcore lounging.

LoveSac filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2006 but emerged to eventually be named the fastest-growing furniture company nationally.

Landmark Commercial Real Estate broker Don Piros, who handles leasing at the Waterfront, did the deal for the LoveSac lease.

Look for the store to open in the first quarter of 2023.
